- John Read, CEO of the Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative, spoke about the vision and mission of the collaborative. He explained the Math Pathways Project Team was created 3 years ago to help better prepare students for college level math and help colleges be prepared for the students they receive. He introduced Geoffery Schuler, the leader of the group, to explain their recommendations for the District. He noted the vision of the team was to ensure mathematical proficiency by 2025, so that all tri-county students are ready for their career aspirations. He explained in detail the four focus areas: develop and implement improved high school math curriculum, develop and implement improved evidence-based math programs in kindergarten - 3rd grade, increase the supply of qualified math teachers (including attraction and retention), and professional mathematic collaboration/conversation forums. - Dr. Kim McLaren, Executive Director of Secondary Programs, presented local Board approved courses for first reading approval and noted Board members had been provided a study guide with course descriptions for each course.Recorded
- Dr. Lee Westberry, Executive Director of Testing and Accountability, presented a Powerpoint presentation on the state's new accountability model. She explained the required indicators, the percentage weights of each category, and how the standards would be measured for elementary, middle, and high school levels. Dr. Westberry noted that the District will not receive a report card next year, only the individual schools will receive a report card with ratings in each domain and an overall rating.
